Hauppauge Parents & Students Please Help! Save Spanish in Elementary Schools

Hauppauge parents, students and community: Stop principals and administrators from robbing our children

Update: Save Spanish In Hauppauge Elementary Schools
Please Share this Post!

As noted in an earlier article/post, Administrators and Principals of our Hauppauge Elementary Schools are trying secretly to destroy a very successful program...Spanish in Elementary Schools. Hauppauge is one of few elite schools on Long Island that have this fantastic program.

I want to thank all the parents that have started to take action and spread the word. The response has been overwhelming. As you can see this is a really important cause. Our schools preach to our teachers and students the importance of being "well rounded" and "open minded" ... isn't it a little hypocritical that they now want to take away one of the great programs that can help differentiate our kids and give them a more worldly appreciation?

Since we started this post we definitely got Hauppauge Administrators' attention. Student Petitions have been started, and the media has also begun to cover the story, and more to come.

Just the other day the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Donald Murphy, is now trying to cover their butts, and back up their principals, and ask teachers to "vote" on what programs should be eliminated. Weird why this is just being done now...obviously cat is out of the bag...It is not fair to our teachers, who by the way still don't have a contract, to pressure them to make a decision that will affect our children's academic learning plan. However this is our school too, and we deserve the right to have some input.

Many of you asked what can we do in the meantime. Please call and email the superintendent, your principals and ask them why they want to take away this program. Talk to your PTA members, call the board of education and speak up.

Below please find some contact information. Thank you for your continued support and see you on February 28th.
