Police: Homeless Man Fatally Struck by Car in Central Islip

A homeless man was struck and killed by a car after he stepped off the curb into the street in Central Islip Monday morning, police said.

Police said Victor Fuentes, 32, was walking on Suffolk Avenue when he stepped off the curb and was struck by a 2000 Toyota Sienna that was traveling west on Suffolk Avenue, near Pineville Road, at 11:30 a.m.

Fuentes was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Toyota, whom police did not identify, was not injured. No criminal charges have been filed.
