Police Seek Man Who Stole 40 Bags of Shrimp From Hauppauge ShopRite

The theft occurred earlier this month. Reward offered for info leading to an arrest.

Police are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate a man who stole seafood from a Hauppauge supermarket earlier this month.

According to police, the man entered ShopRite, located at 335 Nesconset Highway, and stole more than 40 bags of frozen shrimp with a value of approximately $800 on Oct. 5 at 2:30 p.m.

The man fled in a waiting white Jeep Grand Cherokee, police said.

The thief was described as white, in his 20s, approximately 6-foot- with a medium build. He was wearing white and blue framed sunglasses and a blue hooded sweatshirt with “1-800-Chimney” printed on the back.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
