Troop 343 hosts Scout Sunday @ St Thomas More R.C. Church
A Scout is Reverent...Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and adult scouting volunteer leaders participated in the celebration of the Scout Sunday Mass held at St. Thomas More R.C. Church in Hauppauge on February 1, 2015. St. Thomas More R.C. Church, which sponsors Boy Scout Troop 343, was one of five Matinecock District (BSA)’s Host Churches for the Catholic Faith during the start of National Boy Scout Week. Boy Scouts from Troop 343 who participated and attended the Mass were, Nick Crociata, Antanas Bobelis, Billy Frielingsdorf, Nick Smith, Mike Barr, Chris Parrett, Matt Kalinsky, Andrew Bryan, Scott Petersen, Sean Barry, Ryan Martinez, Rainer Schubert, Tyler Bisono, Robert Vermillion, Andrew Vermillion, Nick Sicurelli, CJ Leopold, Darius Bobelis, Shane Fiedler, Anthony Sicurelli, Michael Huffnagel, Liam Maggie, Ian McAllister and Eagle Scout Dennis Collins, and Scout Master Peter Crociata, Assistant Scoutmasters Paul Merget and Phyllis Stein; also in attendance were Boy Scouts of Troop 3 (Smithtown) and members of Cub Scout Pack 3333 (Smithtown). Father Irinel Racos, who was the Celebrant for the Mass, blessed the Scouts and their leaders during the service. As the Boy Scouts of America celebrate their 105th year of serving youths, two of Troop 343’s Boy Scouts, Nicholas Crociata and Nicholas Sicurelli, will be attending their Pope Pius Catholic Award Retreat at Kellenberg High School on the Feb. 6 weekend as a requirement of earning the Catholic Boy Scout religious emblem.
Scout Sunday Services at various local Catholic and Protestant Churches and at the Jewish Scout Sabbath services at area temples and synagogues will be held during the month of February.
