SMSC Appoints New Engineering Chief

Jeff VerHaul, previously vice president of platform solutions engineering at Advanced Micro Devices.

announced on Tuesday that it has appointed Jeff VerHeul as a new senior vice president of engineering.

The Hauppauge-based manufacturer of semiconductors for connectivity systems, said VerHeul will be responsible for leading all engineering, defining SMSC's technological path and heading the global engineering goals.

“As a company, we have elevated our leadership in Sales, Operations and Finance over the past two years,” said Christine King, president and CEO of SMSC. “Jeff’s appointment completes the picture of an outstanding senior leadership team covering all major functions at SMSC. I am confident that Jeff will bring SMSC to the next level of engineering execution and innovation.”

Verheul was previously the corporate vice president of Platform Engineer Solutions for Advanced Micro Devices. He also spent 25 years working for IBM where he led creation of IBM's Engineering and Technology Services business.
