Teen Hospitalized After Car Overturns on LIE
BREAKING: The 18-year-old was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital on Thursday morning.
HAUPPAUGE, NY — An 18-year-old Bay Shore man was hospitalized after his car overturned while driving on the Long Island Expressway in Hauppauge on Thursday morning, according to Suffolk Police.
Maleik Pessoa was driving eastbound on the LIE at 8:40 a.m. when he attempted to change lanes near Exit 56 and failed to negotiate the lane change, police said.
His car, a 2004 Jeep Cherokee, went off the LIE, struck a chain link fence, went across Express Drive South, stuck another chain link fence and overturned in the park and ride parking lot, police said.

Pessoa was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
No other injuries were reported.
