Veterans To Receive Services, Food Distribution At Hauppauge Event

More than 200 veterans are expected at an April 15 event offering resources, fresh food, and community support in Hauppauge.

HAUPPAUGE, NY — Veterans across Long Island will have access to a wide range of support services, resources, and fresh food during a veterans-only event set for next week in Hauppauge.

The event will take place on Wednesday, April 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Center for Community Engagement, located at 75 Davids Drive.

Organizers expect more than 200 veterans from Nassau and Suffolk counties to attend. No preregistration is required, but attendees must show proof of military service.

The event is designed as a one-stop resource hub, bringing together dozens of service agencies, government departments, nonprofits, and health care providers to assist veterans with a variety of needs.

Services available will include assistance with housing, job searches, health care access, and service dog support. Free haircuts will also be offered on-site.

In addition, a farmers' market truck will distribute fresh produce and other food items to attendees.

As part of the event, Pal-O-Mine Equestrian will be on hand with miniature horses, offering a unique and uplifting experience for veterans.

Participating organizations include Suffolk County agencies, veterans service groups, health providers and community organizations, including the Suffolk County Department of Labor, Suffolk County Veterans Service Agency, Wounded Warrior Project, Northwell Health, PSEG Long Island, National Grid, the Northport VA Medical Center and many others.

Officials said the goal is to connect veterans with essential services while fostering a sense of community and support.
