Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk Announces Partnership with Bikers Against Child Abuse New York, Long Island Chapter

Islandia, NY (Oct. 5, 2018) – Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk (VIBS) announces a partnership with Bikers Against Child Abuse New York (BACA), Long Island Chapter, that will strengthen the services provided to victims of child sexual abuse and other types of child abuse in Suffolk County. VIBS will be working with BACA to provide child victims and their families a sense of safety and support when going through the difficult time following a discovery or a disclosure of abuse.
Child abuse victims and their non-offending family members who are already receiving counseling and advocacy services at VIBS can now access the services provided by BACA, which are designed to help them feel less afraid in the world in which they live.
“The counseling department at VIBS is so excited to now be able to offer our most vulnerable clients, our children, this wonderful opportunity”, said Corien Bologna, Senior Director of Counseling at VIBS. “Just think of how empowering this is for a child, how this can greatly impact their lives during all the traumatic events that they have been through. We are so grateful for an organization like BACA that shows so much devotion and dedication to making a difference in these children’s lives.”

The volunteers at BACA are enthusiastic to use their skills to work with families being helped by VIBS. According to“Big D”, Public Relations Director at the Long Island BACA chapter, “The Mission of Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA) is to create a safer environment for abused children, and to empower these children to not feel afraid of the world in which they live. Our Members have always admired all the wonderful work VIBS has done for so many different groups of people in our community; especially the work they do with abused children, so we are confident our collaborative effort will make a great fit”.
The work that BACA does with abused children is actually backed up by research. Big D says that “now that the results of a published-four-year-clinical-study have proven that BACA children make "statistically significant improvements" in all behavioral and emotional categories, we are more excited than ever to become another of the many positive components utilized by VIBS that will contribute to the progress of the children they work with.”
