Woman Rendered Unconscious, Seriously Injured In Hauppauge Crash: Police

Passenger struck head after sudden stop; drivers performed CPR before first responders arrived police say.

HAUPPAUGE, NY — A woman was seriously injured Thursday afternoon following a crash that began as a medical emergency on Raoul Wallenberg Drive in Hauppauge, Suffolk County police said.

According to Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives, a handicapped-accessible 2020 Toyota Sienna minivan was traveling east on Veterans Memorial Highway in the right lane around 3:35 p.m. when the driver, Judith Weisman, stopped the vehicle suddenly, police said.

Marybeth Weisman, who was seated unrestrained in the rear of the vehicle, lunged forward and struck her head on the dashboard, rendering her unconscious, police said.

Judith Weisman then turned right onto Raoul Wallenberg Drive in an attempt to pull over and sideswiped a southbound 2008 Honda Accord driven by Tiphanna Olivia-Jimenez, police said.

Both vehicles came to a stop in the left lane, and both drivers performed CPR on Marybeth Weisman until first responders arrived and restored her pulse, police said.

Marybeth Weisman was transported by the Central Islip-Hauppauge Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Stony Brook University Hospital in serious condition, police said.

Judith Weisman, 75, of Smithtown, and Olivia-Jimenez, 29, of Farmingdale, were not injured, police said.

Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check, police said.
