BROOKLYN, NY — The FDNY honored 36 members who died from illnesses linked to their work in the rescue and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
On Wednesday, their names were added to the FDNY World Trade Center Memorial Wall in downtown Brooklyn.
The 36 honorees include firefighters, EMS personnel, fire marshals, chiefs, a fire alarm dispatcher and a pilot.
The memorial wall bears the inscription:"Dedicated to the memory of those who bravely served this department protecting life and property in the City of New York in the rescue and recovery effort at Manhattan Box 5-5-8087 World Trade Center."
