Brooklyn Straphanger Stabbed In Fight For Subway Seat: Police
A 39-year-old R train rider was slashed when he refused to move his things and make room for a standing passenger, said police.

DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — A fight over an R train subway seat ended with one straphanger getting stabbed and the other in handcuffs, police said.
The two men began to argue shortly after boarding a northbound R train at Jay Street-MetroTech at about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, said police.
The 31-year-old demanded a seated 39-year-old move the things he'd placed on the seat next to him, police said.

When, the 39-year-old refused, the standing man whipped out a knife and slashed him across the forearm, police said.
Cops in the station heard the commotion and rushed to the train, which had not yet left the station, and arrested the outraged standing man, said police.

The 39-year-old was taken to an area hospital and treated for minor injuries while the 31-year-old was arrested, police said.
R train service was not affected by the fight, according to the MTA.
