FDNY Free 4 People Trapped In Elevator For More Than 3 Hours, Officials Say

Fire fighters rushed to the Consolidated Edison Plant in Vinegar Hill around 7:40 a.m., said the FDNY.

VINEGAR HILL, BROOKLYN — Firefighters pulled four Con Edison workers from an elevator stuck underground Wednesday morning during a three-hour-long rescue.

The four people were trapped in an elevator at 1 Hudson Ave. — a Consolidated Edison plant — from 7:40 a.m., to about 10:45 a.m., said an FDNY spokesman.

Emergency responders used a harness to pull the victims out of the elevator, which was stuck 220 feet underground, according to the FDNY.
