Tenants Sue Brooklyn Landlord For Neglecting Properties And Pushing Buyouts: Reports
Silvershore Properties tenants said their homes have become unlivable as the landlord tries to sell off their buildings.

DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — A group of Brooklyn tenants are suing a landlord who pressured them to take buyouts and refused to address mice infestations, enormous trash heaps and heatless apartments, according to reports.
Silvershore Properties residents protested outside Brooklyn Housing Court on Tuesday before filing four lawsuits against their landlord, DNAinfo New York reported.
The DNAinfo report detailed a slew of problems that have gone unaddressed for months:

- Residents at 196 Kingsland Ave. in Greenpoint have been without gas since January
- Residents of 318 Humboldt St. in East Williamsburg have a massive mice infestation
- Residents of 5416 and 5422 Fourth Ave. in Sunset Park have a trash heap growing in their inner courtyard
The suit demands that a court-ordered independent administrator to make repairs to four of the 57 buildings Silvershore Properties is trying to sell, DNAinfo reported.
The real estate firm has been looking to unload its Brooklyn buildings — which make up 400 rental apartments in Bushwick, Bed-Stuy, Crown Heights and Sunset Park — since March, according to a Real Deal report.

A source told the Real Deal SilverShore is hoping to get between $230 million and $250 million on the sale.
Which may be why resident Marjorie Tapia, 36, couldn’t get her apartment repaired but was offered a $150,000 buyout on four separate occasions, according to DNAinfo.
