Watch Police Rescue Man From Manhattan Bridge Ledge

Police officers stopped a man from leaping off the Manhattan Bridge by tackling him on an unguarded ledge Thursday morning.

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — Emergency responders rescued a man who threatened to jump off the Manhattan Bridge Thursday morning, according to police.

The rescuers rushed to the Manhattan Bridge around 7:20 a.m. Thursday morning after receiving a 911 call about a suicidal man on the lower level of the bridge, police said.

Video footage released by police shows an Emergency Services Unit standing on the unguarded ledge with the 29-year-old man as they try to convince him to come off the bridge.
