White Powder Found in Envelope at Hillary Clinton HQ in Brooklyn Heights Deemed Non-Hazardous: NYPD

An individual found the envelope at Clinton's office in Midtown before bringing it to the Brooklyn location, the NYPD said.

BROOKYLN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN, NY — An envelope containing a white substance that was found at Hillary Clinton's campaign headquarters Friday in New York was deemed non-hazardous, according to the New York Police Department.

The envelope was found and opened at Clinton's office on 45th Street in Midtown before it was taken to the campaign office in Brooklyn Heights. It was unclear why the envelope was taken to the office at One Pierrepont Plaza.

An NYPD spokeswoman told Patch the envelope was found around 5:30 p.m. No injuries were reported, and after an investigation by local and federal officials, the substance is believed to be non-hazardous.

"Hillary for America notified law enforcement Friday evening of an envelope containing a suspicious substance. Preliminary testing by federal and local officials has found the substance to be non-hazardous," Glen Caplin, Hillary for America national spokesperson, said in a statement emailed to Patch. "The four individuals involved have reported no health issues and, following a full examination by medical personnel, were each released to go home."

Caplin said the office remained open throughout the investigation and would open without interruption on Saturday.

The 11th floor of the building at One Pierrepont Plaza was evacuated, The New York Daily News reported.
