Amazon to Open Distribution Center in Nassau
It will be the company's first building on Long Island.

The first Amazon.com Inc. building on Long Island is expected to be up and running later this year.
A company representative told Patch that Amazon recently signed a lease in Bethpage. The building will be used to support Amazon’s customer fulfillment network, the representative said.
Fulfillment by Amazon allows customers to store their products in Amazon's fulfillment centers, and Amazon will in turn pick, pack, ship, and provide customer service for these products. Watch a video on Fulfillment by Amazon to learn more about the service here.

Amazon signed a lease in March to use a 161,360-square-foot distribution center, which is the former location of Goya Foods Inc., according to Newsday.
The Bethpage location, located at 201 Grumman Rd W., will be operational before the fall and will mainly serve customers in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, according to Amazon.

Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano told Newsday that he thinks Amazon will provide a “significant boost to our local economy.
