WESTBURY, NY — A Jefferson man was arrested after damaging two Tesla vehicles Sunday morning at a Westbury dealership, causing thousands of dollars in losses, police said.
Nassau County police said on May 10 at 10:15 a.m., Travis Dubshinski, 39, entered a Tesla Motors showroom on Corporate Drive and demanded that workers return him a hard drive he claimed was filled with cryptocurrency. The staff claimed to have never seen him before, police said.
When the staff informed him that they could not help him, Dubshinski became 'irate' and left the store, NCPD said.
According to police, Dubshinski took an ice scraper from his 2011 white Mazda car and used it on two Tesla vehicles in the lot in front of the dealership, causing $3,800 of damage. Dubshinski then fled the scene and was stopped later by police at Corporate Drive and Merrick Avenue, where he was placed into custody, police said.
Dubshinski was charged with second-degree criminal mischief and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and will be arraigned on May 11 at First District Court in Hempstead, police said.
