Westbury Man Shot In Jaw By Police During Late-Night Confrontation, 'Violently' Stabbed Police Vehicle: PD

WESTBURY, NY — A Westbury man was shot in the face by officers after stabbing a police vehicle multiple times on Monday night, police said.

Bureau of Special Operations officers were inside a police vehicle on Brush Hollow Road near 2nd Street in Westbury at approximately 11:01 p.m. when a man ran towards their vehicle, Nassau County police said.

Adrian Thompson, 27, ran towards the front passenger-side window and "violently" stabbed the window multiple times, shattering it, Nassau County police said.

The officers discharged their weapons, which led to Thompson being struck in the jaw, according to police.

Police said that immediately after Thompson was struck, the officers began helping him, providing lifesaving assistance. Thompson was placed under arrest and transported to a nearby hospital where he was evaluated and is currently listed in stable condition, police said.

Thompson was charged with two counts of menacing a police officer and will have a bedside arraignment at a local hospital on August 4, according to police. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
