Huntington forum offers latest ways of how they're cracking down human trafficking (newsday.com) — Human trafficking experts recently met in Huntington to explain how the crime often begins with false promises rather than abductions, and to outline warning signs for Long Islanders. The forum highlighted rising arrests at spas and massage parlors and referenced a separate Hicksville panel held next to a site previously linked to illegal sex work. Speakers urged residents to report concerns carefully so victims are not put in greater danger.
3. Queens Dentist Accused of Billing Medicaid for Root Canals and Crowns While He Was Vacationing (dentaltown.com) — A dentist who lives in Hicksville has been charged in New York with allegedly billing Medicaid for hundreds of root canals and crowns that prosecutors say were never performed, including while he was vacationing in Europe. Authorities claim the scheme totaled more than $300,000 and left some patients unable to get needed approvals for later care. He has pleaded not guilty and remains presumed innocent.
