HICKSVILLE, NY — One person was found on the front stoop of a home unconscious during a Hicksville house fire on Thursday morning, Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said.
The Hicksville Fire Department responded to a one-story ranch-style home with "heavy fire" through the roof on Pollok Place after receiving a house fire call at 5:35 a.m., fire marshals said.
Fire marshals said a person was safely out of the home before going back into the house, and then was found on the stoop unconscious. The person was taken to Nassau University Medical Center and regained consciousness while in transport, fire marshals said.
About 75 firefighters brought the fire under control within an hour, fire marshals said.
According to fire marshals, four adults have been displaced due to fire damage and no power.
Mutual aid assistance was provided by Syosset, Bethpage, Westbury, Plainview, Jericho, Glen Wood, Farmingdale, and Levittown, all under the command of Chief Wright, fire marshals said.
Fire marshals said the NCFM's Office and the NCPD Arson/Bomb Squad are investigating the fire.
