Nassau Apartment Building Fire Leaves 19 Temporarily Homeless

The fire in the small apartment complex was quickly brought under control, but the damage still left the residents homeless.

A fire in a New Cassel apartment building Sunday night left 19 people temporarily homeless.

The fire broke out just after 8 p.m. at the small apartment complex at 1120 Broadway. The fire started on the exterior of the building and spread to a small part of the interior.

The Westbury Fire Department responded to the scene, and was assisted by Carle Place, Hicksville and Jericho fire departments.

There were 19 people displaced by the fire (12 adults and 7 children), and the Red Cross was called to give them assistance. No one was injured.
