Disabled Truck On LIE Causing Nightmarish Commute

UPDATE 8:10 a.m.: The HOV and left lanes are now open. The right and center lanes remain closed.

A disabled truck has closed three lanes on the westbound Long Island Expressway Monday morning, causing traffic backups for miles.

It's unclear when the truck became disabled, but crews have been on the scene for hours near Exit 40W in Jericho attempting to remove some type of debris from the roadway.

The HOV lane is the only lane currently open in the area and traffic is at a standstill for about five miles back into Plainview.
