Domestic Disturbance Turns Violent With Victim In Nassau: Police
Merritt Benson Jr. is accused of resisting arrest and injuring four officers, police said.
NEW CASSEL, NY — A man was arrested after a domestic disturbance turned violent in New Cassel, police said.
Officers responded to a Roman Avenue residence just after 11 a.m. on Monday.
Merritt Benson Jr., 24, of New Cassel, was involved in a verbal argument with a resident in the home, police said.

While attempting to place Benson under arrest, Benson resisted and refused to comply with verbal commands, police said.
A Taser was used to get him into custody.

Four officers were injured while getting Benson under arrest. They were taken to an area hospital for treatment and Benson was also brought to a hospital for evaluation.
He is charged with four counts of second-degree assault, four counts of resisting arrest, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
Benson will be arraigned when it's medically practical.
