DWAI Charge For Nassau Man After SUV Overturns: Police

The Subaru Outback he was in struck two vehicles and injured him, police said.

HICKSVILLE, NY — An East Meadow man was high when the SUV he was in struck two cars and overturned, injuring him in Hicksville on Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Around 2:30 p.m., Patrick Schlereth was driving a 2022 Subaru Outback on Newbridge Road that struck two parked cars, causing his vehicle to overturn, police said.

Schlereth was arrested without incident.

While in custody, Schlereth was found with a clear glass vile, containing a burnt substance believed to be crack cocaine, police said.

He was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries and was in stable condition. No one else was injured.

Schlereth is charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, and unlicensed operation of a vehicle.

He was expected to appear in Hempstead district court Friday.
