Fight In Nassau Sends Man To Hospital: Police

The victim was punched repeatedly in the face by Pedro Hernandez, who was charged with assault, police said.

NEW CASSEL, NY — A homeless man was arrested Thursday afternoon in New Cassel.

The male victim, 44, was in a fight with Pedro Hernandez, 42, who struck the victim on the back of the head, police said.

Hernandez also punched the other man several times in the face, authorities said.

The victim suffered severe injuries to his right eye, nose and lip. He was treated at an area hospital.

Hernandez fled the scene but, police said, he was located a short time later in a parking lot on Prospect Avenue and was placed into custody.

He is charged with first-degree and second-degree assault and was expected to be arraigned on Friday.
