Fire Sweeps Through Nassau County Diner: PHOTOS

WESTBURY, NY — A fire swept through a diner in Westbury early Thursday, causing the roof to collapse, police and firefighters said. The four-alarm blaze began just before 5 a.m. Thursday at the Harvest Diner on Old Country Road.

No injuries were reported. Nassau County police confirmed to Patch the building was fully engulfed in flames.

Video posted on Twitter by News 12 showed heavy flames and thick smoke shooting out of the windows of the diner.

The Plainview Fire Department wrote on a Facebook post that one of its engines was sent to help battle the blaze

"Engine 9511 laid in about 900 feet of 5 inch hose and fed Mineola Volunteer Fire Department tower ladder 168 for exterior operations following a roof collapse," firefighters said.

At least 40 fire vehicles and 100 firefighters were at the scene. An investigation remains ongoing.
