Hicksville School Officials Unveil New Auditorium

The Hicksville School District ushered in a new era in its performing arts program with the unveiling of a new, state-of-the-art auditorium at Hicksville High School. The Hicksville Board of Education and administration members were on hand to cut the ribbon on the newly renovated facility moments before students took the stage for the Winter II Concert, the first since reopening the space.

The auditorium has been completely renovated, boasting a new sound system, lighting, seating, stage, curtains, decor and more. Some new features include sound absorbing fabric, wireless microphones and pan, zoom and tilt video cameras with livestreaming capability when appropriate.

According to Hicksville Supervisor of Fine Arts Chad Wyman, music teachers were nearly brought to tears of joy when they first set foot in the venue and began practicing with students. On May 1, the auditorium will be dedicated in honor of former Hicksville music teacher Charles (“Chuck”) Arnold. At that time, the high school lobby will be named the Mable R. Farley Foyer in honor of Farley, who served the Hicksville School District for approximately 50 years in various roles, including teacher and administrator.

The Hicksville High School concert band, mixed chorus, orchestra and wind ensemble all played a part in opening the new facility, with amazing performances during the concert.
