Hicksville Schools In Lockout After Threats Reported At Public Library

HICKSVILLE, NY — Hicksville schools are in lockout on Friday morning following a situation at the Hicksville Public Library, a letter to parents from the district read.

All students and staff are safe at the three schools, according to a letter from Superintendent of Schools Theodore Fulton.

The district stated that Hicksville High School, Hicksville Middle School, and Lee Avenue Elementary were all in lockout "as a precaution due to an unfolding situation in the community."

According to the letter sent via ParentSquare at 10:41 a.m., the district said an individual at the library was accused of making threats that were not directed at the schools, students, or staff.

The district asked parents and guardians not to attempt to come to the schools at this time, and visitors will not be allowed on campus until the lockout is lifted.

The district said they are closely monitoring the situation and are in communication with Nassau County police about the situation.

Police told Patch the investigation is ongoing.
