Hicksville Students Celebrate 100th Day In Style
Lee Avenue School students counted, problem-solved and paraded through the halls to make their milestone day a special one.
Press Release From Hicksville School District: As part of the 100th Day of School celebration taking place at elementary schools throughout the Hicksville School District on Feb. 13, Lee Avenue School students counted, problem-solved and paraded through the halls to make their milestone day a special one.
Estimation stations were set up in the school’s all-purpose room where students could guess how many items filled jars. Some activities enabled students to use higher-level math skills, including an escape the room activity in one class in which students identified word clues and used number equations to break out. Students also dressed in a variety of shirts designed to commemorate the 100th day and made hats, posters and necklaces from 100 items.
Students in Kathleen Gessner’s and Maureen McMorrow’s fifth grade class took the celebration a few steps further, as students wrote about their favorite memory to commemorate their 1,000th day of school. Kudos to Danny for his winning essay on field day!
