HWD Superintendent Paul Granger Receives Diven Award from AWWA
Award Given for Outstanding Services to the New York Section

Hicksville, NY (August 10, 2020) — The Hicksville Water District is proud to announce that Superintendent Paul Granger has been selected by the American Water Works Association to receive the 2020 John M. Diven, Jr. Award. This award is presented annually to an AWWA New York member, who has contributed outstanding services to the New York Section.
“I am humbled and honored to receive the Diven Award and to be in the same company of so many remarkable people that are leaders and positive role models in our profession,” said HWD Superintendent Paul Granger. “I am so fortunate to be in a vocation that has countless knowledgeable, dedicated, and all around great people.”
Paul has over 32 years of experience dealing with water supply systems, He began as a staff engineer in 1988 with H2M Architects and Engineers and held the position for eight years. He then became the Superintendent of Engineering and Business for the Plainview Water District, which he held for 11 years. Paul then rejoined H2M in 2007 as their Department Manager of Water Resources Planning and Development and was ultimately promoted to Vice President. He was also the Superintendent of the Port Washington Water District from 2016 to 2019.

As Superintendent of the Hicksville Water District, Paul oversees all day to day operations of the District. He has been instrumental in developing and executing the HWD’s plans to install treatment for emerging contaminants such as 1,4-dioxane and PFOA(S).
“We are so proud of everything Paul has accomplished in his water career and as our Superintendent,” said HWD Chairman William Schuckmann. “He is continuously committed to doing what is best to keep residents’ water safe and to make sure infrastructure is always working properly and efficiently in preventing any emerging contaminants.”

Paul Granger is a graduate of Polytechnic University and is a licensed New York State Professional Engineer and a Grade IB Certified Water Plant Operator. In addition to his education and certifications, Mr. Granger is a member of the American Water Works Association, the Long Island Water Conference’s legislative committee, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the National Society of Professional Engineers.
