Sword-Wielding Man Faces Attempted Murder Charge In Nassau Burglary: Police
The man, one of "many attackers" breaking into a home, slashed multiple men with a sword while they were sleeping, police say.

HICKSVILLE, NY — A sword-wielding man faces an attempted murder charge in connection with the gang assault break-in of a Hicksville home, Nassau police said.
Officers were called to a Princess Street home at 1:55 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a disturbance. They saw a 2011 Volkswagen parked outside the residence that had damage to all windows and two headlights, police said.
Simranjeet Singh, 27, Hicksville, was seen exiting the backyard and identified as being one of "many attackers" in the home, police said. Singh was arrested, police said.

Multiple males, including Singh, had entered the home through a basement door, police said. Once inside, they carried various objects, including a black handgun and a large metal sword, police said. The burglars began attacking at least five male victims while they were in their bedrooms, injuring them, police said.
A 23-year-old man who was sleeping identified Singh, who swung a large sword, striking him in his back, causing a cut, police said. A 20-year-old man who was sleeping identified Singh, who swung a large sword at him and struck him in his left leg, left forearm, right thumb and palm, causing cuts, police said. A 21-year-old man who was sleeping identified Singh, who swung the sword and struck his right foot and leg, causing deep cuts, police said.

A 20-year-old man said multiple males entered his bedroom and struck him with a piece of
wood before punching him with closed fists and striking him with a black handgun, police said.
He suffered bruising and swelling, police said.

Both the black handgun and the large metal sword were recovered, police said. All four victims with injuries were taken by a Nassau County police ambulance to a nearby hospital and treated for their injuries, police said.
Singh was charged with two counts of first-degree burglary, and one count each of first-degree assault, second-degree assault, first-degree gang assault, second-degree attempted murder, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and second-degree criminal mischief.
Police say they have not yet arrested anyone else connected with the burglary.
He was scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday.
