Man Stalks 2 Teenage Girls: Nassau Police

The man followed two different girls home from summer school on separate days, gesturing to each of them to get in his car: Nassau police.

WESTBURY, NY — A Westbury man followed two different teenage girls home on separate occasions, Nassau police said.

On Tuesday, July 9, a girl, 16, was walking home from summer school at Park Elementary School in Westbury when she noticed she was being followed. While she was walking on Prospect Avenue at Kinkel Avenue at 10:05 a.m., a man was slowly following her and gestured for her to get into his car, police said.

On Thursday, July 11, the man followed another 16-year-old girl home from the same school and approached her at Sylvester Street and Park Avenue, police said. He followed the girl in his car and motioned for her to get in at 10:18 a.m., police said.

Both girls feared for their safety and called police.

Following an investigation, detectives arrested Selvin Ortiz, 46. He was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and fourth-degree stalking.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday, July 18 at First District Court, Hempstead.
