Nassau Girl Followed, Grabbed By Man As She Walked To School

Police say the man followed the girl, then grabbed her inappropriately before being chased off.

NEW CASSEL, NY — Nassau County police are looking for a man who grabbed a young girl who was walking to school in New Cassel on Oct. 25.

According to police, a 9-year-old girl was walking north on Urban Road at 8:50 a.m. on Oct. 25 when she saw a gray pickup truck with a ladder on it slowly following her. When she reached Park Avenue, police say a man got out of the truck and started following the girl on foot.

The man caught up to the girl and grabbed her inappropriately. A woman who was nearby saw and yelled at the man to stop. The man then fled on foot, heading south on Urban Avenue.

Police say the man was Hispanic, 24-27 years old, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a husky build. He has black hair and brown eyes, and was wearing a reflective vest at the time.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
