Nassau Man Charged After Biting Woman's Lip, Pistol-Whipping Her In Fight: Police

The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries, Nassau police say.

NEW CASSEL, NY — A Westbury man was arrested in connection with biting and pistol-whipping a woman in New Cassel on Thursday, Nassau police said.

Officers responding to a home for an aided case at around 7:25 p.m., determined the 22-year-old man, arrived at the home and caused "a disturbance" with a 21- year-old female victim, according to police.

It escalated, and he bit the woman’s lip, then left and shortly returned by kicking in the front door and pointed a firearm at the woman, causing her to fear for her life, before striking her with the firearm, police said.

He then ran away, and she called 911, according to police.

After a thorough investigation, the man was found near the intersection of Union Avenue and Linden Avenue, and after a short foot chase, he was placed into police custody, and a loaded Colt .25 handgun was found on him, according to police.

He was taken by a police ambulance to a hospital for evaluation, police said.

He is charged with second-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon, and menacing. He was additionally charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and third-degree criminal mischief, aggravated criminal contempt, and first-degree criminal contempt.

He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on Friday at First District Court in Hempstead, and a temporary order of protection was issued, online court records show.

His bail was set at $100,000, $200,000 insured bond, and$500,000 partially secured surety bond, according to the records.
