A Novel Idea: Hicksville Students Score Books From Vending Machine
A 'Book Nook' machine is designed to cultivate a love of reading and spark imagination in students.

HICKSVILLE, NY — Vending machines aren't just for snacks anymore — they can open the door to new worlds through reading. At Lee Avenue Elementary School, students can now turn tokens into tales from the 'Book Nook' vending machine.
The initiative was created to spark a love of reading and nurture students’ imaginations in a fun, engaging way. Made possible with the support of the PTA, the 'Book Nook' offers a wide selection of titles, allowing students to choose books that match their unique interests and passions.
Throughout the school year, students will earn tokens as rewards, which they can redeem for books of their choice — turning positive achievements into opportunities for discovery, learning, and adventure.
