Officer Hurt, Man Resists Arrest After Robbing Nassau CVS: Police

HICKSVILLE, NY — A man robbed a CVS in Hicksville and got violent as police attempted to take him into custody, authorities said.

Michael Klug, 45 of Kew Gardens, was spotted by the store manager removing items from the West Old Country Road location on Saturday morning, police said.

Klug shoved the manager, who had been confronted, according to police. Klug fled on foot along Newbridge Road. Police located him a short time later at the intersection of West Cherry Road and Newbridge Road. While placing Klug into custody one officer was injured as Klug got violent resisting arrest, police said.

Klug and the injured officer were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Klug is charged with second-degree robbery, second-degree assault and resisting arrest.

He was scheduled to be arraigned on Sunday.
