Officers Hospitalized After Responding to Domestic Disturbance in New Cassel

Three people were arrested Wednesday afternoon.

Three people were arrested after multiple officers who responded to a domestic incident in New Cassel were hospitalized Wednesday afternoon, police say.

According to authorities, police responded to a Irving Street home for a domestic disturbance at 12:05 p.m. and began speaking to a 21-year-old woman, a resident of the home, when Crystal Sinclair, 26, of New Cassel, came outside and began cursing and screaming at the resident and charged past officers.

Police say they were attempting to place Sinclair into custody when a resident of the home, Orlando Mosley, 28, began to pull the women from the officers, causing a struggle to ensue. The struggle caused Mosley to punch one of the officers, police say.

Police were attempting to place Mosley and Sinclair into custody when another resident, Dionne Davis, 19, jumped on the back of one of the assisting officers, according to authorities.

Three officers were reportedly injured during the incident. Police say one officer received a back injury, one a laceration to his hand and another an injury to his wrist. The officers were transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Sinclair, Mosley and Davis were all arrested and charged with:

  • Sinclair— Second-degree obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest and first-degree harassment.
  • Mosley— Second-degree assault, resisting arrest, second-degree obstructing governmental administration.
  • Davis— Two counts of second-degree assault, resisting arrest, second-degree obstructing governmental administration.

All three will be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
