Shots Fired Into The Air From Nassau Street: Police
Kevin Vanegas was charged in the Wednesday night incident, police said.

NEW CASSEL, NY — A man was taken into custody by police on Wednesday night after multiple shots were fired into the air in New Cassel, authorities said.
Kevin Vanegas, 27, of New Cassel, was arrested after officers spotted a man matching the description given to 911, police said.
Vanegas is charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree criminal use of a firearm and criminal possession of a firearm.

Shots were fired just after 9 p.m. on Brook Street in the vicinity of Broadway. The investigation revealed three shell casings were recovered on Brook Street as a well as a black P80 handgun, police said.
Vanegas was expected to be arraigned on Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.
