DEC Announces Graduation of 17 New York State Forest Rangers (ny.gov) — Highland is represented in New York's newest class of Forest Rangers, with Joshua Betts of Highland, Ulster County, among 17 graduates completing six months of intensive training. He'll join a statewide force that handles rescues, wildfire response, and environmental protection across millions of acres, bringing those skills back to serve New Yorkers, including the Hudson Valley.
3. Seven Ulster residents among arrested in large drug bust (dailyfreeman.com) — A major Hudson Valley cocaine trafficking investigation led to 10 arrests, including Highland resident Joshua A. Mintz, 41, as part of a network operating in Ulster and Orange counties. Authorities say the long-running probe uncovered over a kilogram of cocaine and numerous felony charges, with state and local agencies emphasizing ongoing efforts to keep Ulster communities safer.
4. High school golf: Saugerties wraps up MHAL Division title with two wins (dailyfreeman.com) — Highland High's golf team edged Pine Plains 170–178 in a Mid-Hudson Athletic League match at Apple Greens, led by Nick Welch's round of 40.
