2-Hour Delayed Opening for Huntington, South Huntington Schools Monday
The districts announce the decision after a blizzard strikes the region.

Huntington and South Huntington Public Schools will open on a 2-hour delay on Monday following a blizzard that dumped more than two feet of snow across Long Island, district officials have announced.
Here’s the message posted on the HUFSD’s website:
Huntington Schools will open on a Two-Hour Delay Tomorrow.
Message from the South Huntington School District:
Hi All
I hope your families safely weathered the storm. We are going to call for a two hour delay for school tomorrow (Monday 1/25) in order to give the Town Highway Department and internal crews a little longer to work. This means that we simply push back all drop off times, bus stops, classes, etc. for a full two hours.
It is our hope that the few extra hours of sunlight and above freezing temperatures allow some of the hills and side streets in our community time for treatment. It is also our hope that the extra time provides our custodians and grounds crews who have been working throughout the weekend a bit more time to treat the buildings. The 2+ feet of snow have challenged our equipment a bit and while conditions will not be perfect, the team is working to pull things together for a delayed opening.
Please be safe as you dig yourselves out from this winter treat.
