2 Town Of Huntington Veterans Honored As Seniors Of The Year

Kenneth Carlson and Robert Santo were recognized as Suffolk Legislative District 17 Seniors of the Year by Legislator Tom Donnelly.

HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly honored Kenneth "Ken" Carlson of Melville and Robert "Bob" Santo of Huntington Station as Legislative District 17 Seniors of the Year at an outdoor, appropriately socially-distanced meeting of the Greenlawn American Legion Post 1244 on July 8 at the Greenlawn Knights of Columbus Hall, Donnelly's office said in a news release.

Carlson, a veteran of the United States Army from 1968 to 1972, served in Vietnam and
received the Bronze Star. With the Greenlawn American Legion Post 1244, he serves in the Color
Guard and is the Post’s parade organizer and notary. In addition, Carlson is an active member of the Strathmore Civic Association, where he is currently treasurer.

Santo, a veteran who served in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970, is a former 10-
year commander and current financial officer of the Greenlawn American Legion Post 1244. Santo is also a liaison with the SailAhead Program, a therapeutic sailing platform that helps PTSD-suffering veterans and brings awareness to Post Traumatic Stress and Veteran Suicide.

"It was a privilege to recognize Ken Carlson and Bob Santo, two outstanding and deserving
veterans, as Legislative District 17 Seniors of the Year for 2020," Donnelly said. "I thank them for their past service to this nation and their continued service to our community."
