2 Tried To Kill Man, Face Attempted Murder Charge: Suffolk DA

A man and woman planned to rob and kill a man in his own car, with both stabbing him with a knife, police say.

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — A man and woman were indicted after they tried to rob and kill a Huntington Station man in December, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney said Thursday.

Jordan Dekie, 21, of Huntington, and Emily Tague, 19, of Northport, were both charged with attempted murder, the DA said.

"These two individuals not only allegedly tried to steal the victim's belongings, but they also tried to rob him of his life," Tierney said in a news release. "This cowardly and heinous act of violence will not be tolerated in Suffolk County, and as such, these individuals will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

Dekie and Tague were picked up by the man they planned to kill on the evening of Dec. 12, prosecutors said. The man, driving a Dodge Charger, drove Dekie and Tague to Dekie's home, officials said. The three sat in the Dodge when they got to Dekie's house, and soon after, Dekie signaled to Tague, who stabbed the driver in his chest with a knife, the DA said.

Dekie, who also had a knife, tried to forcibly remove the driver's lanyard containing his car keys from his neck, officials said. Dekie then stabbed him multiple times, authorities said.

The driver wrestled the knife out of Dekie’s hand and escaped from the Dodge, prosecutors said. Dekie and Tague fled, officials said.

The man, severely injured, drove home and called 911, authorities said. Suffolk police and an ambulance brought him to a hospital to be treated for his injuries, officials said.

Dekie and Tague were arrested at their homes a few days later, the DA said.

Suffolk police obtained numerous text messages between Dekie and Tague outlining their plan to rob and kill the man, authorities said. Tague’s hairbrush was found in the stab victim's Dodge, officials said.

Dekie and Tague were each charged with second-degree attempted murder (a class B violent felony), second-degree conspiracy (a class B felony), and first-degree attempted robbery (a class C violent felony).

They were each ordered held on $150K cash, $300K bond or $500K partially secured bond. Both are due back in court March 2.

Dekie was arraigned Wednesday. He is being represented by John LoTurco.

Tague was arraigned Thursday. She is being represented by Eric Besso.
