53 Elwood Students Honored With National Honor Society Induction

Students recognized for scholarship, leadership, service, and character during the March 31 ceremony.

ELWOOD, NY — Elwood-John H. Glenn High School inducted 53 students into its National Honor Society during a March 31 ceremony celebrating academic excellence, leadership, service, and character.

The ceremony, organized by adviser Diane Locascio, honored students who have distinguished themselves both inside and outside the classroom.

“We are thrilled to celebrate your hard work and look forward to the impact you will continue to make,” Assistant Principal Lindsay Fritch told the honorees.

NHS officers Laila Daly, president; Reema Singh, vice president; Ava Haddad, secretary; and Camila Avila, treasurer, addressed the inductees, welcoming them into the prestigious organization.

Class of 2017 alumnus Derek Lee returned to his alma mater to deliver the keynote address, offering words of encouragement and inspiration to the new members.
Music for the evening was provided by the John Glenn Chamber Strings, directed by Emily Dana.

“These deserving students were recognized not only for their academic excellence but also for their outstanding leadership, dedicated community service, and exemplary character,” the district said.
