Abandoned Repair Shop to Be Demolished
Huntington Station eyesore space will be redeveloped.
Demolition of an old auto repair shop in Huntington Station is scheduled for Friday as part of the town's revitalization efforts.
The shop at 1000 New York Ave. was purchased by the town last year and asbestos removal was recently completed.
Members of the Town Board will attend the 11 a.m. ceremony preceding the demolition.

The town has obtained a $1.17 million state Restore NY Communities Grant to assist in the redevelopment. The Economic Development Corp. will release an open request for proposals for construction at the approximately half-acre site.
Developers can submit a new development plan or stay with the plans for a 10,800-square-foot mixed use office building that were submitted in a grant application that was funded with a $1.17 million reimbursement grant from the Empire State Development Corp.
