ELWOOD, NY — Two seniors from Elwood-John H. Glenn High School have been recognized among Suffolk County’s top student leaders in physical education, earning prestigious honors through the Suffolk Zone Chapter of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
Daniella Rehren and Christopher Scarola were named the school’s 2026 Suffolk Zone Award recipients, an annual distinction awarded to one male and one female student from each high school in Suffolk County. The award recognizes exceptional achievement in physical education, along with strong character and demonstrated leadership.
“This is a great honor for me,” Scarola said. “I try to be a leader within the physical education community throughout class, trying to show leadership, citizenship, and performance wherever necessary. I try my hardest in whatever sport or activity we do within the physical education course, and I’d like to thank the entire physical education staff for bestowing this honor upon me.”
Each year, Suffolk Zone Award recipients are selected for their commitment to physical education, leadership among peers, and positive contributions to their school communities.
“I would like to thank everyone who gave me this award,” Rehren said. “I am very proud of this honor. I put a lot of hard work into school and sports in general, so it really means a lot to me that I was recognized and given this achievement.”
