Commack, Harborfields, Northport Among Big 2026 'Hunting-Tony' Nominees

Annual awards show honoring Huntington-area high school theater programs returns June 8 at Harborfields High School.

HUNTINGTON, NY — The nominees for the 16th Annual 'Hunting-Tony ' Awards were revealed by Town Councilmembers Dave Bennardo and Theresa Mari during a live broadcast from Huntington Town Hall on April 23.

The annual awards program, known as the “Hunting-Tonys,” celebrates fall plays and spring musicals produced by the Town of Huntington’s 10 high schools, recognizing performers, stage crews, musicians, designers and faculty members involved in the productions.

This year’s red-carpet awards ceremony will take place Monday, June 8, at 6 p.m. at Harborfields High School.

“The Hunting-Tonys is always a special event in that it allows us to celebrate the incredible talent that graces the theaters of our Huntington Township school districts,” Bennardo said.

The Town of Huntington said volunteer judges selected nominees across a variety of acting, musical, technical and design categories. A video announcing the nominees is available on the town’s website.

“A night like this speaks volumes about Huntington's commitment to the performing arts and solidifies our reputation as the ‘artistic capital of Long Island,’” Mari said.

Among the schools receiving multiple nominations this year were Commack High School, Half Hollow Hills High School East, Half Hollow Hills High School West, Northport High School, Harborfields High School and Walt Whitman High School.

Top categories for the 2026 ceremony include Best Musical, Best Play, Best Lead Actor and Actress in both plays and musicals, Best Ensemble and multiple technical production honors.
