MELVILLE, NY — A Huntington motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Melville on Friday night, Suffolk County police said.
Anees Khan, 38, was riding a 2023 Ducati motorcycle south on Round Swamp Road, near Hilltop Drive, when he attempted to pass a 2022 Kia Seltos heading south at about 6:45 p.m., police said.
Khan struck the right rear bumper of the Kia, lost control of the motorcycle and was thrown from it, police said. The motorcycle caught fire after the crash, police said.
Khan was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office, police said.
The driver of the Kia and his passenger, both 85 and of Plainview, were not injured, police said.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks, police said.
