GREENLAWN, NY — Students, staff and families gathered at Oldfield Middle School on May 29 to celebrate the 20th Annual All-Star Awards, recognizing students who have shown determination, growth and strong character throughout the school year.
This year, 70 students were honored after being nominated by their teachers for achievements inside and outside the classroom. Recipients are recognized for making personal strides, reaching individual goals and overcoming challenges academically, socially, emotionally or behaviorally.
The awards highlight the importance of character development, especially during the middle school years, and celebrate students whose efforts and positive attitudes have made an impact on the school community.
During the ceremony, Oldfield Middle School guidance counselors shared heartfelt messages from teachers explaining why each student was selected.
"Valentina has a way to make every encounter memorable and her energy is contagious," one nomination read.
Another teacher praised a student’s personal growth, writing, "Jaxon's commitment to transform into the person he wants to be is extraordinary."
A third nomination celebrated another recipient’s impact, stating, "Ava is an All-Star for 2026 and beyond. The world is such a better place with Ava in it!"
While each nomination highlighted different strengths, school officials said this year’s All-Star Award recipients shared common qualities: hard work, perseverance and a positive attitude.
