A broker says the Huntington Village restaurants are expected to reopen, though it’s unclear if they’ll keep the same names or concepts. Locals now await word from ownership on what’s next for these well-known village fixtures.
2. Simba, Young ‘King Of The Jungle,’ Seeks His Pride: Huntington Adoptable Pet Of The Week (patch.com) — Animal lovers in the Huntington area are being introduced to Simba, a three-month-old, high-energy kitten at Grateful Paw Cat Shelter in East Northport who loves playtime, company and purrs loudly for attention. After being overlooked at a recent adoption event, he’s now featured as Huntington’s adoptable pet of the week and must join a home with another friendly cat or be adopted with a feline companion. 3. NYU Langone's plan for Melville medical center leaves some residents cautiously optimistic (newsday.com) — NYU Langone plans a massive new hospital and medical school complex at Huntington Quadrangle in Melville, potentially bringing thousands of jobs and more traffic to the Route 110 corridor. Residents from Melville, Dix Hills and South Huntington are weighing the benefits against concerns over building height, strain on first responders, schools, aquifer and overall quality of life.
4. Film Loans from the Library of Congress — June 2026 (loc.gov) — Film buffs in Huntington can catch a 35mm screening of the 1949 noir “The Reckless Moment” at Cinema Arts Centre on June 9, part of a nationwide series of Library of Congress film loans. The roundup also highlights similar classic screenings in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, and abroad for those willing to travel.
5. 2026 New York State Pride Guide (nysmusic.com) — Huntington will host key Long Island Pride events, including a June 8 vendor and exhibitor fair at Heckscher Park and a June 14 Pride concert in Huntington Village. The statewide guide also lists dozens of parades, concerts, and celebrations from New York City to Buffalo and Syracuse throughout June and July.
