HUNTINGTON, NY — Huntington will celebrate the Huntington High School girls lacrosse team’s state championship with a parade and community ceremony Tuesday afternoon.
The town’s championship parade is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. on Sabbath Day Path, across from Huntington Town Hall, and travel through Heckscher Park to the Chapin Rainbow Stage, town officials said.
Supervisor Ed Smyth and the Huntington Town Board are inviting residents to line the parade route and gather at Heckscher Park to honor the Huntington High School girls lacrosse team, which won the 2026 NYSPHSAA State Championship.
The event will include a live DJ and music, a team recognition ceremony, fan giveaways and food trucks, according to the town.
The town said the celebration will also continue the New York Knicks’ 2026 NBA championship celebration, and residents are encouraged to wear Knicks gear.
The event is family friendly, and town officials requested that no alcoholic beverages be brought to the celebration.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. The event will be held rain or shine.
